Alfredo Luiz Perin, Managing Director, Brazil
Mr. Perin graduated as a geologist from UNISINOS – Rio
Grande do Sul, Brazil. Mr Perin has 29 years of alluvial
experience, mainly in diamonds. He worked for Brascan, Rio
Tinto, Cue Group, America Mineral Fields and most recently
for Elkedra Diamonds at the Chapada diamond mine. Mr. Perin
was responsible for diamond, tin, gold and platinum
exploration in news areas of Western Brazil. Mr. Perin
possesses vast experience in delineating alluvial deposits
by drilling, pitting and bulk sampling.
José Fernando Tonoli, Exploration Manager
Fernando Tonoli is a diamond geologist with over 28 years of
exploration experience. Over 26 years with De Beers in
Brazil where he was directly responsible for the discovery
of 33 kimberlite deposits in ten different districts. During
his tenure with De Beers, Fernando has explored for diamonds
in Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela and Angola. He was responsible
for Vaaldiam’s acquisition of its Duas Barras mine.
Katya Masun, P. Geo., Senior Resource
Geologist
Ms. Masun is a registered Professional Geologist (APGO) and
holds an Honours B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Geology) from Lakehead
University in Thunder Bay Ontario, having studied kimberlite
petrology under Professor Roger Mitchell. Ms. Masun has more
than 14 years of well-rounded experience in kimberlite
diamond exploration, having begun her career with Rio Tinto
in Thunder Bay, Ontario. and spent nearly 7 years as a
Project Geologist based in Vancouver. While with Rio Tinto,
she worked on major kimberlite diamond exploration projects
in Canada, Brazil and India and has authored several
technical papers on these activities. For Vaaldiam Ms. Masun
utilizes her diamond exploration experience and in
particular her knowledge of kimberlite petrology to
interpret the geology and direct exploration strategies on
the Company’s kimberlite projects, as well as to prepare
resource calculations and economic studies.
